Buffalo crossing

Not many of us probably see Buffalo on the road while traveling to work, but Jack did! He had to stop to take a picture. They were in the middle of the road and weren't really all that intersted in getting out of the way either.

Our Lizard

This lizard lives in our yard! He comes out for a visit every so often. We'll catch him sunning himself on our porch. He lives in a crack under the steps to our porch. We have no idea what kind of lizard he is but he's impressive!

Aidan's song

Kids are so precious. My 17 month old Aidan is trying to sing a song. Every night before we put our kids to bed they are sung to. The song is the same each night. It is "Jesus Loves Me." Aidan is trying to sing it in his baby ways. It sounds a little like, " Jesa wu me, di di doh." Mostly it sounds like gibberish, but it follows the tune and every once in awhile we catch a word. What is most special to me is that they have heard this song every night of their little lives. I hope they always have this as a memory and a comfort as they grow up.

Beautiful Gracyn

I admit it. I've been on a little blog-a-thon here, but I'm having lots of fun. I realized that many people who are coming to this site for the first time may be wondering how Gracyn is doing and so I thought I'd give an update. For those new here, Gracyn, my 4 year old, fell down the steps of our home on February 25, 2006. She sustained a head injury and spent 2 days in ICU and 3 additional days in hospital. She had a fractured arm and a fractured skull. It was a horrible experience to watch her go through such an injury at a young age. But, children are resilient. God watched over our little one and has healed her quickly. She has an appointment for a CT Scan on May 10th to check the progress of healing with her skull. Hopefully, this appointment will be our "all clear" signal. Gracyn looks great and there aren't any visible signs of injury. Praise the Lord!

Summer in Thailand

Ok...so this is my first real introduction to life here in "The Big Mango". Right now it is summer. Summer starts in March and ends in May. Actually it feels like summer all year long. However, Thailand designates these months as summer. Summer here is extremely hot. The temps stay between 95-100 degrees Farenheit. I've been taking the kids to our communty pool early in the morning because once you get to 10 A.M. being outside is unbearable...even in the pool! The Thai people will often take 3 showers a day in this weather just to stay clean and cool. 2 showers a day is about our speed. The Thais also cover themselves in baby powder which helps them stay cool and dry. It actually does help out some. It is hard to keep the kids occupied during the day since we can't really play outside too much. The kids can only handle about 5 minutes before complaining about the heat. I can't wait until late May-June as this is when the rainy season gets underway. The daily downpours are actually heavenly! It's the only time of year we can actually feel a bit cozy. These rains are refreshing and instead of snow days we get flood days!

Aidan Spaghetti face

Doesn't every child have at least one picture of themselves with a spaghetti sauce face? Well...here's Aidan's! This kid loves spaghetti. He could eat 3 bowls of it...if we let him.

Princess Gigi

This one is just for fun as I get our blog up and running! Gracyn was playing dress-up tea party with Gigi.

The Cunninghams

Who are we? We are the Cunninghams! Most of you probably know us already but for those not quite familiar with us, let me introduce us to you. Jack and I have been married going on 8 years. We were called to missions as a couple back in 1999 and arrived in Bangkok, Thailand in August 2000. As a single, I was a 3rd grade teacher in Bangkok at International Community School for 2 years prior to getting married. Both Jack and I spent a summer in Thailand as college students, which is where our call began. We now work with Mission to the World as church planters. Our first child, Gracyn, was born in Bangkok in 2001 and our son Aidan was born here in 2004. We have a little Pug named Gigi, who has been a fun addition to the family and keeps the kids entertained. Our children are Thai language learners at the moment and prayerfully they will be fluent speakers as we continue to live out our calling here among the Thai people!

Inaugeration

I've decided that it might fun to start a blog of all the experiences we have here in Bangkok as missionaries. We've been here almost 5 years now and we sure have had many experiences. We hope you enjoy getting a small glimpse of our lives in Bangkok. Enjoy!
